  1. I input my height, weight, age, gender and activity level in a calorie counter and my daily calorie need is 2664 calories. I walk briskly for 2 miles a day so I input moderate as my activity level.

I input my height and size of my body frame and my ideal weight is suggested to be between 164-188 pounds. I want to lose weight until I reach 185 pounds. My present weight is 197 pounds. I therefore have to lose 12 pounds. I have to consume a minimum of 212 calories daily to eventually reach my ideal weight.
3500 calories is equivalent to 1 pound. Therefore it will take me 3500/212 = 18 days to lose 1pound. So to lose 12 pounds it will take me 18x 12 = 216 days = 30 weeks i.e. 7.5 weeks

I can do it faster by losing 1 pound a week which is equivalent to reducing my calorie intake to 500 calories instead of the 212.
So in this case it will take me 12 weeks i.e. 3 months.
