Have You Been Unknowingly Undermining Your Diet?

By Howard Vasquez

We all understand that the best foods for our diet plans are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats. These would be the ingredients that should give us the energy and protein we need. They keep our bodies nutritionally healthy with minimal calories while we work hard to lose our fat at the gym. Did you know however that a number of the diet foods you've been consuming may have been hindering your ability to lose weight? They may be keeping you from losing weight altogether! Here are some of the foods that you might be eating which are hurting your efforts to lose weight.

Sports Drinks may not be aiding you whatsoever. You have probably been told that your sports drink is the fastest way to replenish your body's electrolyte levels after a workout. Many doctors agree, nevertheless, that if your exercise routine is under ninety minutes, water is a fine way to do this. Sports drinks are rich in calories and sugar and a bunch of other stuff like artificial flavors and colors that will defeat any of your attempts at eating a natural and also healthy diet. Choose chocolate milk for your drink as a substitute. Your body employs the sugar inside the chocolate for muscle repair and everyone knows how good milk is for you.

You don't need protein shakes. Lots of people feel that protein shakes can be utilized in place of meals and to curb cravings between meals. The truth of the matter is that if you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is clog your system with protein. No matter what others imagine, protein is not stored in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. This means that if you have taken in an excessive amount of protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat is just not nearly as healthy as you might believe that it is. It's generally thought that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread along with lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. Actually, pre-packaged deli meat has way too many preservatives and sodium (one portion contains about a third of the amount of sodium you should eat in a day). This could be especially risky if you are at risk for heart disease. Rather than getting pre-packaged deli meat, choose some home cooked poultry or the deli meat that is newly sliced at your deli counter. Sure they are a lot more expensive options but they are quite a lot healthier for you.

There are a lot of things that we assume will help us lose weight: eating a whole wheat bagel in the morning, for instance is actually a lot worse for you than a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon sprinkled into it for flavor. Ask a medical professional which ingredients are best for you and then eat those. If you are careful about precisely what you take in and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
