Many people like the idea of going on a detox, but think to
themselves "Where am I going to get the time?" Happily, there is an
answer. You can have a Weekend detox without leaving the comfort of your
home. All you need is a little prior planning and preparation and you
can fit a healthy detox into your schedule.
Saturday
Morning - Start the day with a healthy exercise routine to get the circulation flowing and improve your breathing. Yoga, Tai Chi or Pilate's are all excellent early morning exercises.
After your exercise, have a breakfast consisting of a raw fruit salad or you can blend them into a smoothie. Take time after your breakfast to rest and meditate. Then treat yourself to a luxury facial. You can do this yourself; you don't need to visit a spa or salon. You just need to get a cleanser, exfoliant, toner and moisturizer.
Afternoon - have lunch consisting of a raw vegetable salad. Add texture and nutritional value by topping it with pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Then dress it with a mixture of olive oil and cider vinegar.
After lunch have a rest and read a book or favorite magazine. When you feel ready go out into the fresh air for a brisk walk. Choose an open space that is away from sources of pollution if possible. When you return, give yourself a foot massage.
Evening - have your evening meal consisting of a range of lightly cooked vegetables. You can either steam them or stir-fry in a little olive oil. You can add flavor with a little tamari or soy sauce.

You can follow a similar routine on the Sunday of your weekend detox plan. Just substitute a manicure for the facial that you carried out in the morning.
