Check and document your progress on a weekly basis. Hold a record of your progress and update it each week. Add a food diary to your journal, and be sure to list your food intake throughout each day. When you write down everything you consume, you will be much more aware of what you are eating, causing you to make better choices.

You are going to eat some time during the day; it's a necessity. You should not wait until you are starving to choose what you are going to eat. Be ready for the day! Pack some snack or a nutritious lunch to take with you anywhere you go. You will save a lot of money by bringing your own food and not eating out. Make sure you plan ahead and that you plan to stick to your plan.

The secret to successful, lasting weight loss is a combination of nutritious eating habits coupled with a good exercise program. It is important that you exercise three times a week or more. If this has been where you have failed in the past, plan instead to incorporate exercise into things you already enjoy. If you like having long conversations with your friends, you can go with them for a walk. Enjoy your workout in nature if you can. Hiking trails and bike paths offer some great outdoor space for working out by walking, biking, inline skating or even skateboarding. Try going to a dance class to learn new ways to work out.

The less junk food you have laying around, the less likely you will be to eat it. A well stocked pantry full of healthy food is not to be underestimated; it can make a big difference in the success of your weight loss program! You will definitely reduce the amount of junk food you eat by making it less accessible.

Appeal to your friends. Tell them you need their support in your efforts to lose weight. Having many supportive people around will motivate you to keep going when you feel like quitting. When you are feeling unmotivated, call up someone who can help to bring your spirits up. People can help you get through your whole weight loss program.
