The cause of water retention is caused when have too much sodium in our bodies and don't get rid of it. Sodium can come from the foods we eat or the things we drink and if not used it gets stored much like our body stores unwanted fat which will cause you to look fat. Well some of the tell tale signs that you are only retaining water and not actually fat are if you seem to have a low body fat percentage everywhere else but seem to be chubby in other places. In other words in some areas of your body you look slim, toned and well define while other areas look like a blur. Another sign is when you are sweating and your sweat actually tastes salty. This is a definite sign that you are retaining way too much sodium and need to get the sodium from being captured underneath your skin.
