A Checklist Of Wilderness Survival Supplies

By Charlotte McBride

When one wants to go hiking or trekking in the jungle or the forest, he definitely cannot go empty handed. He should always make a list on what to bring in order to make his trip pleasant and avoid any problems. He would need to carry necessary wilderness survival supplies.

First item on the list and probably the most important would be the knife. The knife is a very useful tool that can save almost any situation. If one would want to cut something like plants and some edibles for example, he can use the knife to do that. If by any chance a wild animal would attack him, he could also use the knife as a weapon to fend it off and save his own life.

Of course one can never forget to bring his compass. It is with this tool that one will not get lost while he is walking around inside the woods. Just in case he does not where to go anymore, the compass will be able to help him find his bearing and bring him back to an area that he already passed by.

Obviously, water should be something that one does not forget when he goes trekking. Since the trip will take more than just one day, it is important that one stay hydrated at all times. So never forget to bring at least three bottles of water to avoid being dehydrated. If one runs out of water, he can refill his bottles in lakes or rivers but he his to make sure that the water is clean before he even takes a sip of it.

If one would have water, he must not forget about food as well because this is the only thing that will give him strength. The best thing to do would be to carry a few snacks and some pots and pans. By bringing cookware, he will be able to cook any raw food there just in case he runs out of extra snacks and other edibles.

He should also never forget to bring a lighter because without one, he will not be able to cook. One of the most essential skills would be to know how to create a fire, however, not many people know how to make one from rubbing sticks. So the best option would be to bring a lighter and a box of matches so that one will not waste any time trying to make a fire.

For safety purposes, one should never leave home without a first aid kit. While he is walking in the wild, he might fall down, get his foot stuck in a tree, or just get hurt. When this happens, it is important that he bring some medicine and some bandages just in case he gets wounded. By doing this, he will be able to get home in one piece.

So when planning a trip to the wilderness, one must never forget these wilderness survival supplies. Without these things, going on a journey to the woods can be very dangerous. If one is afraid to carry too many things, then he does not need to but he does need at least have all the things mentioned above.
