Doomsday Preppers: The Strategy of John Major

By Terrance Franklin

However, John Major is Doomsday Prepper's nearest answer to Man vs. Food. Any time the dirty bombs strike, his family members will be well fed and capable to secure themselves from the radiation or just about any undesirables looking to take their products. Or else, there is always strategy B(ug).

Taking in bugs

Have you ever consumed lobster? When the pilgrims had begun to arrive in New England, lobsters on the seashore were shunned as they were considered to be a meal for the inferior. Currently they are served in high-end sea food restaurants to many essential customers. Shrimp is a standard feature of cocktail parties everywhere. What exactly do all of these have in common? All are arthropods, the identical class of animals made up of insects.

The luxury term for taking in insects is entomaphagy. More than a thousand species of insects are ingested in more than 80% of the world's nations. People who are still disgusted by this are formally in the small section. From a nutritional viewpoint, insects are alright. These are a great supply of proteins, probably the most difficult macronutrients to safely keep for prolonged periods of time. According to an examination by the African Journal of Biotechnology, insects contain trace quantities of vitamin A, C as well as C, and more than the suggested daily allowance for phosphorus.

Seed bank

The thought of a seed bank was considered by Preston White in an earlier show. Though Preston had an unusual need to collect uncommon plant seeds, John is a bit more realistic in his strategy. In addition to being used in potential crops, John considers seeds to be an excellent form of possible currency. He could be on to something; seeds are light-weight, keep for several years as well as have intrinsic significance.

The idea of sprouting seeds and anticipating the results was fascinating. The nutritional facts of sprouted seeds reveals that they are a great supply of many nutrients. Sprouted wheat is a wonderful supply of B vitamins, sprouted alfafa is a good source of vitamin K, and sprouted beans are also a good source of vitamin C. All appear to be a fantastic supply of minerals like iron, selenium, copper as well as magnesium mineral.

Furthermore, it appears as if Mr. Major is a prepper business owner just like our good friend Tim Ralston. Selling a few of his seeds in mylar bags is a great approach to keep the resources coming in and can help him with his post-collapse bartering capabilities.

Family Prepping

Once again we have a good example of a family who can certainly move against society's grain and have a great time doing this. What is more amazing is the intense level of weirdness going on. In some way John makes it much easier for his family to practically consume vermin as compared to other preppers have to convince their young children to move out of hurricane street and keep some containers in the shed. In case there's one thing that shines in regards to the Major's it is the uniformity amid members of the family. No one would seem to be undermining the activities they endure whether it be practice shooting or perhaps fallout drills. It is all about solidarity (and maybe getting the little ones started on mealworms at a young age).
