Water Retention in Women - Weight Loss Tips

Water retention in women is the cause of many health-related problems, including high blood pressure, PMS, and even certain pregnancy issues. Worse, it makes it nearly impossible to lose weight on a diet or fitness routine! Asian women have used various techniques to battle water retention for generations, and today we're going to talk about a few of them to help you burn fat and lose weight fast!

Water Retention in Women

As women we tend to suffer from the effects of water retention around the time our menstrual cycle hits each month. It actually makes up one of the worst parts of PMS, occurring the week before our actual period takes place.

Hormones are to blame (as they are for most problems in our lives unfortunately), and fluctuations in our estrogen levels turn on production of a hormone called "aldosterone". Aldosterone then causes our kidneys to retain fluids throughout the body, and we see a sudden gain in water weight quickly.

Most of this water weight is affected by gravity, which is why many of you suffer from swollen knees and legs during this time. Pain, discomfort, and inconvenience all add up to a tough time for anyone going through this tough condition.

Natural Cures Help

The first thing we can do to get rid of excess water is cut back on the foods and ingredients that accelerate and increase its retention within our bodies.
Number one on this list is salt, or sodium. Salt forces the body to retain water at an amazing rate, up to TEN TIMES its own weight for every gram we eat! Amazing!

Use natural substitutes like additional spices or even pepper to cut back on salt as much as possible whenever you start to see the signs of water retention.

Another food that can help us lean out a bit is the enjoyable banana! Asian women have used bananas as a home remedy against water retention for as long as I can remember, my own Grandmother swore by them when I was a child.

The reason they work so well has to do with the presence of potassium, which helps eliminate fluid retention. Eat two bananas a day and watch the water fly away! If you don't have any bananas, or if you don't like how they taste, try raisins instead as they can also serve the same purpose.

If You're Really in Pain

Like all swelling, a good ten minutes of treatment with a ziplock bag full of ice (wrapped in a towel) can reduce inflammation dramatically and ease the pressure of knees, ankles, and feet. If however you are suffering from a diabetic condition please check with your family physician before performing any ice-related treatment.
Natural diuretics, or foods that help you get rid of water from your system, can also help in a pinch. Cranberry juice is excellent for this purpose, as is cabbage or coleslaw.

Get Rid of the Water but Also Get Rid of the Fat

Everyone I talk with these days is sick of the latest diet programs, where you're either STARVING or trying to live through BRUTAL workouts to drop weight.
Instead, let me teach you a simple method that will quickly drop 10 pounds off your belly and thighs in less than a month without any sweating. The technique is so easy that I actually recommend doing it while relaxing on the couch watching TV!
